Eat Over Depression, too

http://www.everydayhealth.com/columns/therese-borchard-sanity-break/foods-eat-every-day-beat-depression/

It's no secret that what we feed our bodies matters as much as any amount of exercise, or more. But that may be true for our brains as well.

Our brains need fuel. Carbohydrates! That's right, we need carbohydrates for our brains to function properly. In addition, we need vitamins, minerals, water, fat, cholesterol - a truly "balanced" diet.

I linked a story I found about one woman's experience. Remember, everyone has different needs, but everyone needs fuel, too!

Well, THAT didn't work. :-)
Still honing our computer skills. Always something to learn!

*update, 5 minutes later:
Figured it out!

This is gonna be good! It's a beautiful day, don't let it get away....

Our Mission Statement

Welcome to "Run Over Depression," where together, we can change the world - our
world, and the world of those around us!

The goals of "Run Over Depression", through competition in distance-runs of any length - fun runs, 5K, half-marathons, full marathons, and beyond:

1. RUN! Help ourselves and other people suffering from depression and other mental illness to feel better.  When you exercise, your body releases endorphins, and makes you feel good. Have you ever heard the words "runner's high"? Sometimes this is enough, but in some cases (like mine), anti-depressants and talk-therapy helped me achieve balance (and even just getting out of bed in the morning!).

2. Educate the community on mental health and illness.

3. Remove the stigma behind mental illness, especially depression.

4. Raise money and awareness for other non-profit organizations working toward improving lives!
A. People suffering from mental illness.  These include non-profit organizations such as "
Hopeline,"
as well as your local mental health organization.

B. Those less fortunate from the United States and around the world.  This includes organizations
such as the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging (
CFCA), CARE , DATA (Debt, AIDS, Trade,
Africa),
Second Harvest, and more!

5. Provide community mental health resources.

6. Create a supportive atmosphere for runners (or walkers!) of ALL levels to come together.

The Opportunities are endless!  Thanks again for stopping by!

On another note, I am most willing to speak with groups about my personal bout with depression, as
well as how I used running to help overcome it!  You can contact me
here.

Have a beautiful day!  Don't let it get away!

God Bless,

Jim "Thunder" Shoopack
